Title contenders New Zealand and Fiji have both gone through day one of the Emirates Airline Glasgow Sevens after beating Samoa and Argentina to top their respective pools, conceding just seven tries between them.
The rivalry between the two sides has been intense all season and the Fijians know that they must match New Zealand blow for blow in Glasgow to have a chance of landing a second Series title next week in London.
Hosts Scotland gave their fans plenty to cheer about by beating Russia following the disappoint of losing tight matches against Wales and South Africa, while Spain clinched their first World Series win against European neighbours France after going close against Samoa earlier in the day.
