Fiji, Wales, South Africa and England all progressed to the Cup quarter-finals at the 2011 Dubai Sevens after maintaining 100% records on day one.

After a storming start to the 2011/12 HSBC Sevens World Series by the men-in-black, the men-in-green-with-a-wee-bit-of-gold showed on Day 1 of the Dubai Sevens that New Zealand will not be unstoppable this season.  DJ Forbes’ Boys went down 21 – 5 to a heavily-bandaged Kyle Brown’s Blitzbokke.

The fans, of course, loved the final score:

Day 1 – Well done. Slow start as per the Gold Coast, warmed up and now set for Day 2. Can’t wait.Wish we were in Dubai. On the bucket list. Go well !

Here’s the official Day 1 highlights from irbsevens.com:

The scene is set for a whopping final day in the Dubai desert with South Africa meeting France in the Cup quarter-finals, instead of the usual Fiji.

Strap in… it’s going to be a scorcher!
