Emerging Boks in Safaricom7s Semis

The South African Emerging Sevens team, coached by Arthur Janson advanced to the Semi-finals on Day 3 of the Safaricom 7s in Nairobi, Kenya.

The South Africans shut out the University of Grenoble 24 – 14 in the final quarter-final match to earn the right to play Samoa in the second semi-final later today.

In the other quarter-final matches, hosts team Kenya managed a win over Auckland with a last-ditch try (12 -7).  Samurai (a Fiji Select side) was too strong for Spain (17 – 0) while Samoa rolled over Zimbabwe (34 – 5).

The Emerging BlitzBokke made it to Sunday’s knockout rounds by beating Auckland Vikings (28 – 24), Mwamba (19-12) and Bristol Uni Select (46 – 0) on Saturday.

The line-up for the semi-finals of the 2011 Safaricom 7s are:

Semi-final 1 3:20 PM KENYA 14 vs  29 SAMURAI

Half-time: Kenya 7 – 17 Samurai

Semi-final 2 3:42 PM SAMOA 19 vs  10 EMERGING BOKS

Half-time Samoa 7 – 5 Emerging Boks

CUP Final: 5:10 PM Samurai 12  - 31 Samoa 

Half-time: Samoa 26 – 0 Samurai
