What a way to end of a two-month summer-holiday (winter in South Africa) than going to watch the Springboks take on the All Blacks!
Thanks to a media-pass courtesy of the kind folks at SARU I’ll be taking to the road shortly, en-route to Port Elizabeth, some 700km east of Cape Town.
Another reason I am so excited to be going to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium (other than that it’s one of the brand-new FIFA World Cup venues) is that the Stadium will also play host to the South African-leg of the 2011/2012 HSBC Sevens World Series. This weekend’s excursion will therefore also double as a scouting mission of sorts.
I had decided on taking an overnight bus to PE as the 20-hour return trip will not be too tiresome as I will be taking a 21-hour Emirates flight (who says I don’t support the sponsors of Sevens?!) back to Hong Kong via Dubai and Bangkok early next week.
Stay tuned to BlitzBokke.com as, internet access in PE allowing, I will endeavor to update the site with stories and other media from the rugby test.
Cheers,
Mike
