Hoskins’ wishes for Baby Boks

The Springbok Under20 Team kicks off their campaign at the Junior World Championships in Italy tomorrow with their match against Scotland.

South African Rugby Union (SARU) President Oregan Hoskins sent the following message to Boys ahead of the tournament:

Firstly, I want to congratulate all the players and team management on your selection to represent South Africa at the IRB Under-20 Junior World Championships in Italy.

The honour of representing your country is indeed a huge and unique one. However with this huge honour also comes a big responsibility not only to the rugby fraternity but indeed the entire country.

To coach Dawie Theron, captain Arno Botha and the rest of the team, you all deserve the praises directed at you as you have showed the necessary grit and determination throughout our demanding selection and conditioning process, designed at finding our very best talent in your age group.

South Africa boasts a proud record of achievement at Under-20 level, mainly due to our outstanding crop of young players and our very unique schools rugby participation programme.

Our age-group national rugby teams have for some time now led the way in respect development and transformation. I want to commend all involve for their tireless in order to make a reality, please be assured that your efforts are truly appreciated.

The national selectors, team management and staff at SARU have gone out of their way to ensure that the team is well prepared and ready for the daunting challenge. I also want to thank the teachers, parents and coaches of the various schools for their sterling contribution towards the careers of these fine young rugby players.

Enjoy the experience and always remember to deliver your best.
