Interesting that In the sixth installment of their ‘Inside Sevens: Uncovered‘ feature, the IRB should focus of the many varied surfaces that are on offer throughout the Series.

Shortly before the Springboks were to leave for Hong Kong, coach Paul Treu excitedly Tweeted about the 2 different pitches that his side was exposed to at their training base up north. The BlitzBokke got a training run on both a heavy, wet pitch (for Hong Kong) as well as a harder, faster track (for Adelaide).  Much to the coaching team’s liking.

If you were at the Hong Kong Stadium last weekend, you’d have witnessed the slippery surface and the challenge it offered to especially the fliers in the teams.  I still think that that could have been one of the main reasons why Ben Ryan’s England couldn’t get off the ground, so to speak, against eventual Cup Champs New Zealand.  The track was just too slippery for the 2 Dans (Dan Norton and Dan Caprice) to get going.

The surface on offer at the Adelaide oval will present quite to opposite: hard and fast.

Should be an exciting weekend.
