New Zealand International Sevens General Manager, Steve Walters, has expressed his deep gratitude to NZI for their support of the tournament for the past five years as the principal and naming rights sponsor.
The sponsorship agreement comes to an end this year and throughout the five years NZI have been on board, the tournament has gone from strength to strength.
Walters explained, “We have enjoyed great support from all our sponsors and suppliers since the tournament began in 2000, and especially so with NZI.”
“Our relationship with NZI has been incredibly strong and we want to take this opportunity to thank them for their contribution in making this event the success it has become. NZI have been with us since 2007 and their involvement has been invaluable.”
Karl Armstrong, Executive General Manager NZI said “We’ve obtained great value from the sponsorship, it’s been a highly successful and beneficial five year partnership. We’ve really enjoyed being part of the sevens but now it’s time to look for new opportunities that will allow us to provide different experiences to our partners and customers.
In December 2010, NZRU announced that the New Zealand leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series would remain in Wellington for the next five years.
