Rugby Sevens will form part of the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games and South Africa will field a team that will include a Rugby Sevens contingent.

The 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games will be the fourth Commonwealth Youth Games which started in 2000 and will be held on the Isle of Man.

7 – 13 September 2011


The following sports will be contested at the Tournament:

* Athletics

* Badminton

* Boxing

* Cycling

* Gymnastics

* Swimming

* Rugby sevens (details below)

Max athletes per team: 1 x squad of 12

Medals: (gold, silver & bronze) & Plate competitions.

Men: 16 – 18 years of age (athletes born in 1993, 1994 & 1995)

Competing Teams

The Rugby sevens competition at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in Douglas, Isle of Man will be held in September 2011 at the The Bowl Stadium.

A total of 8 teams will compete in this tournament.

The host nations Isle of Man and Scotland as hosts of the 2014 Commonwealth Games get automatic entries into the tournament, along with the highest ranked nation of the Commonwealth’s six regions:

* Africa  * Americas  *Asia  *Caribbean  *Europe  *Oceania

The participating teams are:

Host Nation: Isle of Man

Automatic entry: Scotland

Africa: South Africa

Americas: Canada

Asia: Sri Lanka

Caribbean: Trinidad and Tobago

Europe: England

Oceania: Australia
