Hong Kong Stadium 15H30

1 Hour before kick-off and spectators are slowly but surely trickling in.

I had a look-about at the “Boerewors Bend” (where the South Africans usually sit) and already our multi-coloured flag is all over the place! Some industrious Saffas has printed “Reserved” signs and “booked” their places in the Bend.

Can you believe it, the stadium DJ is playing ” Dream on black boy, Dream on black girl” He must be Aussie!

After a usual slow start, the HK Stadium has filled up nicely.  The South Stand is particularly jovial and tanking up for a night of… well, more tanking up in Wan Chai and Lan Kwai Fong!

Hong Kong vs. Wales

A much-anticipated clash and a repeat of last year’s Pool match (which HK won).

The Welsh were boo-ed when they scored he first 3 tries of the first half.

When Rowan Varty finally scored for the hosts in front of the South Stand… mayhem!

The stadium DJ oblidged by playing Bob Marley’s “Could you be loved” !

Kenya vs. Russia

Russia is up 15 -0 over Kenya and the Stadium DJ is playing “Buffalo Soldier.” I think he has a thing for Bob Marley!

Russia eventually beats Kenya 22 -5. Tonight we all drink Vodka!

Penultimate match: USA vs. Japan

The partisan crowd boos every try by the Americans.

Final match of Day 1: France vs. Portugal

The crowd leaving in 100′s before the REAL stampede for the gates start.
