Organisers of the NZI Sevens, the third tournament of the 2010/2011 HSBC Sevens World Series, have come up with a novel way of rallying the fans ahead of and during the Wellington event.
Since the start of the season they have been running a competition to find 16 cheerleading squads, one each for the sixteen competing sides.
They squads have been finalised and will be performing at various spots inside the WestPac Stadium.
The squad that will be cheering for the Springboks is called KTown Gets Down and, wait for it…
will be dancing to Waka Waka!
Check it out:
We personally dig the kitty complete with ears and tail!
Who is KTown Gets Down?
We are Lovey Raston, Leah Fitzpatrick, Jackie McRae-Tarei, KC Ngatai, May Te Pou, Lynette Ngaheu and Juanita Paraha – seven workmates from Kawerau who are living the dream at the NZI Sevens! (Woop! Woop!) And we hope to follow in the fabulous footsteps of our ‘sister’ Danielle (NZ’s Next Top Model) by becoming NZI Sevens Next Top Cheerleaders!
Actually, we’re just mega happy to be selected LOL and anything else is a total bonus! Our main goal is to have lots of fun and to get everyone around us to have lots of fun too. Having said that, we would so NOT say no to a bit of cash so feel free to vote for us as many times as you like we won’t mind at all. (Text South Africa to 5678 during the tournament)
We are taking our job very seriously in support of our South African brothers.
It will be South African party central in our part of the stadium. So come join the fun and get down with K-Town! The lyrics to our chant are simple, we have borrowed them from our cuzzie Shakira, the actions are simple too, imagine the crowd split into two halves:
Cheers ladies and thanks for your support of our Boys!
