A season or so ago, in the only “competition” run on BlitzBokke.com so far, we gave away 2 DVD sets featuring the entire 2008/2009 IRB Sevens World Series.
That season just so happened to be the BlitzBokke’s greatest season in history because the Boys not only won their first-ever home tournament but went one step further to clinch the Series.
In an interview with SAPA’s Michael Mentz featured on Timeslive.co.za, coach Paul Treu talks of how impressed he is with the harmony in his current squad of BlitzBokke.
“When we won the tournament here two years ago we were a tight-knit unit and we made it difficult for opponents to break our lines. And, even when they did get past us the guys showed great commitment in chasing down their opponents, and that is the type of energy we will need this weekend.”
The harmony in this year’s side is almost the same as it was when (we) won the George-leg (of the IRB Sevens World Series) in 2008.” he added.
He also told Mentz that the challenge this weekend will be to get his charges to “show unity in everything they do to succeed at the George SA Sevens this week. The faster you become a unit, the faster it will start showing in results,” he said.
