SA Under-20 coach Eric Sauls made two changes to his starting lineup that suffered a 36-7 defeat against New Zealand to the team that will play England in the third place playoff match of the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship in Rosario this evening at 21h45 (RSA time).
Springbok Under20 coach, Eric Sauls made 2 changes to his team to play England
Vodacom Blue Bulls centre Francois Venter, who has scored two tries in this year’s tournament, will earn his fourth start in the No 12 jersey after he was sidelined for the Baby Blacks match due to an ankle injury. He replaces utility back Branco du Preez and will resume his midfield partnership with Jaco Taute.
The other change to the starting 15 is in the front row where Wessel du Rand will earn his first start in the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship at prop. He replaces Brummer Badenhorst.
“Francois (Venter) was always part of our plans during the competition and would have played against New Zealand had he not been injured,” said Sauls.
“In Francois and Jaco we have a settled centre combination for our last game of the tournament. We also feel it’s time we gave Wessel a start up front. He’s made an impact whenever he was given an opportunity during the competition and I am sure he won’t let us down.
“This is a grueling competition where our players are expected to play a game every four days. I think we’ve managed that well.”
