The Springbok Under20′s challenge for a Championship title at the Junior World Championships in Argentina has come to an end in the South American city of Rosario.
The loss makes it the third semi-final loss in a row after losing the last two against England.
The Baby Blacks had a comfortable lead at the change (22-7) after tries by Rory Grice, Savea and Thompson.
South Africa’s only try in the first half came courtesy of a great finish by the diminutive Branco Du Preez.
Despite putting together a couple of set moves in the second half, the South Africans could never really come back from their first half deficit.
Savea added another second-half try for the Baby Blacks while the Springboks failed to add any more points.
In the end, the more classy and physically superior New Zealanders were the victors (36-7) and will meet their trans-Tasman rivals Australia in the final of the IRB Junior World Championships.
South Africa will meet England in the third/fourth place play-offs on Monday.
